Meta announced the expansion of its AI assistant, Meta AI, to the MENA region.
The tool is gradually rolling out across the region, with full access already available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Iraq.
Integrated into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, Meta AI is accessible via its blue circle icon and does not require prior registration.
It can also be used in group chats by tagging ‘@Meta AI’ for quick research, brainstorming, or planning.
For example, users organising a family trip can request island destination ideas within a six-hour flight from the UAE, and Meta AI will generate suggestions in real time.
Powered by Meta’s Llama 3.2 language model, the assistant can generate text, create images, and animate them directly within Meta apps.
Users can access its image-generation tool by typing “Imagine” followed by a description.
For example, entering “Imagine a tiger wearing a vest drinking tea at a café” prompts real-time image creation, with an option to animate it. Arabic language support has also been introduced.
To mark the launch, Meta is introducing Elevating Every Moment, a content series showcasing how users can maximise Meta AI’s capabilities.
The initiative will feature regional creators such as Yara Boumonsef, Amro Maskoun, Raghad Zamel, and Abdullah Al Sabe, alongside educational content on the Meta Arabia page about crafting effective prompts.

“We’re seeing people use Meta AI to dive deep on projects that spark their interest, get help with how-to tasks, and use the assistant for guidance on things like art projects, home decor, outfit inspiration, and more. Image generation has been especially popular, and I’m excited to see how people in our region will find new, creative ways to make the most of what AI can offer,”
said Fares Akkad, Meta’s Regional Director for the MENA region.
Future updates will include real-time dubbing for Reels, image editing, and the Imagine Me feature, which creates personalised portraits. Meta AI will also introduce tools to assist users in crafting social media captions.
