Thunes, a global payments network, and barq, a growing digital wallet in Saudi Arabia, have announced the launch of barq’s expanded remittance services for consumers across the Kingdom.
Through Thunes’ international network, barq users can now transfer money across borders, with funds delivered in real time to mobile wallets and bank accounts worldwide.
The service builds on barq’s existing financial products, which include international remittances, payment cards, and digital wallet solutions.
The launch follows the collaboration between Thunes and barq announced in 2024, aimed at expanding reach and providing more reliable services to Saudi customers.
Saudi Arabia has one of the largest remittance markets globally, undergoing transformation as part of the Vision 2030 programme to digitise payments.
By combining barq’s local presence with Thunes’ international infrastructure, the partnership seeks to strengthen remittance options available to consumers.

“Our collaboration with Thunes has moved from vision to reality. By going live with these services, we are empowering our customers with faster, more reliable remittances and strengthening barq’s role as the digital wallet of choice in Saudi Arabia. This is another important step in our journey to deliver innovative and accessible financial services, and Thunes’ trusted solutions are helping us to deliver on this mission,”
said Thamer Alharbi, Director of International Partnerships at barq.

“We are proud to see our partnership with barq delivering impact at scale. With this live launch, Thunes and barq reaffirm their shared commitment to delivering efficient, and customer-focused payment experiences, supporting Saudi Arabia’s vision for a digital-first financial ecosystem,”
said Ahmad Yaacoub, Vice President MENA and Country Head for Saudi Arabia at Thunes.
