Mastercard has introduced Mastercard Access Pass, a programme that enables issuers and partners to offer tailored experiences and perks without issuing new cards.
Launching with the McLaren Formula One Team and First Abu Dhabi Bank in the UAE, the programme allows FAB cardholders to add digital designs and additional benefits to their existing Mastercard products.
Access Pass lets users apply new card designs to their digital wallets within minutes and access related benefits immediately.
Mastercard says the platform will expand to include more partners and features over time.
The first activation is the McLaren Racing Mastercard Pass, which provides eligible FAB cardholders with limited edition card art, a McLaren Plus membership, and access to selected events, experiences and merchandise. It also offers exclusive digital content related to the team.
This follows Mastercard’s announcement that it will become an Official Naming Partner for McLaren from 2026.
Mastercard positions Access Pass as a tool for issuers and brands to increase engagement and encourage continued card usage.
The company cites consumer research indicating growing interest in personalisation and content linked to individual interests.
Findings referenced include increased preference among younger consumers for digital payments, stronger engagement when financial services offer personalisation, and interest in rewards linked to hobbies and communities.

The McLaren Racing Mastercard Pass is available to eligible FAB cardholders in the UAE.
Users can register through the FAB mobile app and gain instant access to the associated benefits.
Additional designs and features are expected early next year.
