The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and operating under the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, has announced the expansion of autonomous taxi services on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The expansion involves Apollo Go, a subsidiary of China’s Baidu, with Autogo, a subsidiary of K2, joining as an additional local operator.
Abu Dhabi is extending autonomous mobility services, adding more operators, and strengthening operational readiness as part of its phased plan.
This follows successful testing and operational trials on Yas Island and the transition to commercial operations for Level 4 autonomous taxis.
Future plans include extending the service to Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, and Al Saadiyat Island.
Users can request rides through the ‘AutoGo’ app on Android and Apple devices.
ITC stated that the expansion highlights its role in implementing smart mobility solutions in Abu Dhabi, providing regulatory and operational frameworks, and ensuring compliance with safety and efficiency standards.
This aligns with the emirate’s objective of developing an integrated, sustainable transport system.
Hamad Adel Al Afeefi, Executive Director of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Sector at ITC, said:

“The addition of a new operator in the commercial operation of autonomous taxis is a key step in regulating and developing Abu Dhabi’s smart mobility ecosystem. It reflects the readiness of the regulatory and operational frameworks for Level 4 autonomous vehicles and adherence to safety and efficiency standards.”
