Huawei Cloud is strengthening its presence in Egypt’s financial technology sector through locally hosted infrastructure designed to support digital transformation
The company outlined its growth strategy at a recent summit focused on secure digital infrastructure and data intelligence.
Following the launch of its Egypt public cloud region in 2024, the company is responding to growing demand for scalable, secure, and locally hosted cloud infrastructure.
This approach keeps sensitive financial data within national borders to satisfy long-term data sovereignty requirements.
Jo Xu, CEO of Huawei Cloud Egypt, stated that the company aims to be a trusted technology partner for local financial services. He noted that the local cloud region offers low latency, continuous local support, and a secure and compliant cloud architecture.
The strategy addresses both large financial institutions and emerging fintech startups.
For smaller enterprises, the company introduced onboarding pathways that focus on cost optimisation, rapid deployment, and compliance readiness. These are designed to lower technical barriers.
Summit sessions detailed operational resilience tools, including multi-cloud disaster recovery and secure landing zone design. They also covered hybrid-cloud deployments via the Huawei Cloud Stack platform.
Evolve Investment Holding has migrated core workloads to the platform. The company moved its gold trading platforms, GNT and MNGM, with minimal operational disruption.
According to Huawei Cloud, the migration used continuous data replication, parallel system validation, and a managed cutover strategy.
This safeguarded data integrity, maintained business continuity, and delivered a seamless customer experience.
Mohamed Amer, CTO of Evolve Investment Holding, shared details of this migration experience during the event.
Amr Farouk, Chairman and CEO of JATDEV, presented joint fintech solutions built with the technology provider, highlighting collaboration to deliver tailored services to the Egyptian market.
The cloud platform holds certifications from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) alongside a Tier 3 license.
It also demonstrates adherence to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) requirements governing data localisation for non-banking financial entities.
The summit concluded with a panel discussion on AI adoption and financial inclusion, titled “Accelerating FinTech Growth Through Cloud Innovation: Opportunities, Expectations, and Market Expansion in Egypt”.
The panel featured local industry leaders including Ahmad Hammouda of Thndr, Sameh El Torgomann of Evolve Investment Holding, and Ahmed Al-Shanawany of Souhoola.
