The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has signed a MoU with the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate the exchange of information and expertise.
Under the terms of the partnership, both central banks will enhance coordination across supervisory and regulatory sectors.
The collaboration will focus on financial technology development, monetary policy, macroprudential measures, and financial stability.
The scope of the agreement covers several priority areas within the financial sector. These include financial consumer protection, financial inclusion, financial literacy, banking supervision, and the oversight of payment systems.
Additionally, the two regulatory bodies will share expertise on the implementation of international prudential standards. They will also collaborate on Islamic finance and anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) frameworks.

“This MoU with the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo comes at a time of change across the global financial sector, requiring stronger institutional channels of cooperation between central banks and supervisory authorities,”
said Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE.
Balama added that the partnership aims to exchange insights and practices that improve the readiness of the financial sector and support the mutual interests of both nations.

“This first MoU with the Central Bank of the UAE is a milestone for the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo,”
said Dr. Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo.
Ismaili noted that the agreement reflects a commitment to expanding international cooperation.
It also aims to strengthen institutional capacities and support the ongoing modernisation of Kosovo’s financial sector, in line with international standards.
