First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) has launched The Exchange, a series on responsible AI. In each session, AI practitioners share how they use, govern and scale the technology.
The FAB AI Innovation Hub hosted the first session, an invitation-only event at the bank’s Abu Dhabi headquarters.
It drew 30 people from industry, academia and regulation. They included senior AI practitioners, technology and data leaders, researchers, business heads and governance experts.
The theme was “AI Decision Making and Governance”. Talks looked at how firms can build AI into the way they make decisions.
A main question was how to balance AI with human judgement. Attendees discussed how clear accountability and sound governance can support responsible AI use and deliver measurable business value.
The discussion then turned to using AI across a firm. Participants looked at where human judgement is still needed.
They also covered how new AI tools can move past pilots to show measurable results.
Attendees also weighed how trust and readiness for regulation can help firms adopt AI at scale.
Views from FAB, NYU Abu Dhabi and the ADGM Registration Authority linked these issues across business, research and regulation.
FAB said AI is a core part of its strategy. The bank sees responsible AI as a way to scale the technology.
It judges the value of AI by the quality of the decisions and outcomes it delivers.
Through the series, FAB aims to build a community of AI practitioners.
It also hopes to bring the private sector, academia and regulators closer together. Another aim is to support the wider AI goals of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
