National Bank of Fujairah (NBF) has added open finance and other new tools to its NBF Direct app.
The UAE bank began rolling out the changes in September 2026. They let customers complete more tasks in the app by themselves.
With the open finance feature, users can share their account data with approved third-party apps. They can also link accounts held at other banks and view them in one place.
Under this model, people choose which approved firms can see their bank data. The UAE central bank is bringing it in step by step under its open finance rules.
Customers now have more say over their credit card limits. Before they use a card, they can change its full limit.
Once they start spending, they can lower the limit. However, it cannot drop below the amount spent plus five per cent. NBF said this gives customers more control over how much credit they take on.
In addition, customers can now request liability letters in the app, with no need to visit a branch first. The bank then emails the letters, or customers can collect them in person.
For iOS users, the app now sends push alerts about account activity and service updates.
NBF said the changes are part of its work to improve its digital systems and channels. It is also widening the range of services offered through these channels.
Before this update, in February 2025, the bank linked the app to UAE Pass, the country’s official digital ID.
