Apollo will take a minority stake in Mubadala Capital, the alternative asset management arm of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund.
Together with other strategic investors joining as shareholders, the US firm plans to commit a combined US$5 billion to Mubadala Capital’s strategies at the initial close.
Apollo will spread its share of the capital across several of these strategies, building on an existing relationship between the two companies.
According to Mubadala Capital, the backing will help widen its investor base and expand its range of offerings. It will also allow the firm to pursue new opportunities around the world.
Under the transaction, Mubadala Investment Company will remain the majority shareholder. Apollo, for its part, joins the founders of Silver Rock Financial as an equity holder.
Once the deal is complete, Mubadala Capital will continue to operate independently with its own governance structure.
Moreover, its current management team will retain full authority over investment decisions and operations.

“Apollo has been a trusted partner to Mubadala and across Abu Dhabi for many years, and we look forward to working even more closely with them as a shareholder,”
said Hani Barhoush, CEO at Mubadala Capital.

“This investment in the differentiated asset management platform they have built in Mubadala Capital builds on our existing partnership and reflects our conviction in their business,”
said John Zito, Co-President at Apollo Asset Management.
Subject to regulatory and legal approvals, the firms expect the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Goldman Sachs and Jefferies advised Mubadala Capital, while Morgan Stanley acted as financial adviser to Apollo.
