IBM and Alinma Bank have announced that Alinma Bank, a financial institution in Saudi Arabia, has adopted IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI integration technologies.
This initiative aims to strengthen the bank’s IT infrastructure and introduce an advanced Application Programming Interface (API) platform, supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 focus on digital transformation.
Alinma Bank has developed a mature, agile integration framework, with its centralised API repository serving as a critical component of its IT architecture.
This system supports a wide range of banking channels, from retail to B2B.
The collaboration with IBM aligns with Alinma’s 2025 Transformation Strategy, which seeks to expand revenue streams and provide corporate clients and fintech partners with streamlined access to digital banking solutions.
The API platform is built using IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration, IBM API Connect®, Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, and IBM DataPower.
This infrastructure enhances security, scalability, and accessibility for fintech firms and SMEs, enabling them to integrate with Alinma’s services.
The platform functions as a centralised API marketplace, allowing fintech companies to access essential banking data while supporting new revenue opportunities through paid API services.
The platform’s deployment has also facilitated the integration of key internal banking processes, including onboarding, pricing, and payments.
IBM API Connect serves as the primary solution in this system, ensuring simplified, consistent, and reliable services.
By incorporating IBM’s Cloud Pak for Integration and Red Hat OpenShift, Alinma has established a secure and compliant repository for financial data, maintaining regulatory standards and ensuring data consistency across its API lifecycle.
This collaboration allows Alinma Bank to meet regulatory requirements for data privacy and security while adapting to the evolving needs of the fintech sector.

“Our new API platform exemplifies this focus, providing corporate customers and fintech partners with competitive, secure, and accessible digital services that support their growth and resilience,”
said Yasser AlOufi, Chief Information Officer at Alinma Bank.

“Our collaboration on the API Monetisation platform unlocks greater potential for Saudi fintechs and SMEs. We look forward to our continued partnership as Alinma paves the way for innovation in the Kingdom’s financial services sector,”
said Fahad Alanazi, General Manager, IBM Saudi Arabia.
