Visa has introduced “Tap-to-Add Card” in Egypt, a feature designed to facilitate the addition of Visa contactless cards to digital wallets with a simple tap on a mobile device.
The solution aims to enhance security and streamline the process by eliminating manual card entry, which can lead to errors and fraud risks.
With this feature, card credentials are securely provisioned through a unique one-time code validated by Visa’s Chip Authenticate service.
This method offers a faster and more secure alternative to manual input.
Malak El Baba, Egypt’s Country Manager and Vice President at Visa, stated:

“We are always keen to introduce innovative solutions that align with the evolving needs of consumers and the global shift towards digital payments. The ‘Tap-to-Add Card’ feature will enhance customer confidence and drive greater adoption of digital payments.”
She added:
“Our goal is to equip individuals and businesses with technology that ensures both speed and security. This feature not only protects cardholder data from fraud but also simplifies the process by removing the need for manual entry, offering a more seamless experience.”
The feature is designed to benefit all stakeholders in the payments ecosystem.
For consumers, it provides a quicker and more secure way to add cards to digital wallets, mirroring the convenience of contactless payments.
For issuers, it helps mitigate fraud risks, lowers provisioning costs, reduces customer service queries, and improves transaction approval rates.
“Tap-to-Add Card” supports digital wallets globally and complies with Visa’s security standards, reducing the risk of card breaches and errors associated with manual data entry.
The feature has gained traction worldwide since its launch, demonstrating its effectiveness in simplifying digital wallet adoption.
