Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) has launched Jaywan Prepaid Cards, introducing its first products under the UAE’s national domestic card scheme.
CBD issues the cards through a corporate arrangement and designs them for retail customers, supporting transactions through the UAE’s local payment infrastructure.
Operated by Al Etihad Payments under the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), Jaywan allows financial institutions to issue debit, prepaid, and credit cards.
These products are accepted across point-of-sale terminals, e-commerce platforms, and ATM networks. The cards support contact and contactless payments, alongside card tokenisation across major digital wallet platforms.
The rollout aligns with Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which focuses on developing a digitally enabled economy.
Localising payment infrastructure improves transaction efficiency and supports a more sovereign and secure financial ecosystem.
Aisha Almazrouei, Chief Customer Officer at Commercial Bank of Dubai, stated that the introduction of Jaywan marks a step toward a more self-reliant financial sector in the UAE.

“Through the Jaywan prepaid cards, we aim to provide secure, efficient, and accessible payment solutions that meet the needs of our diverse customer base,”
Almazrouei said.
The bank will continue working with regulators and technology providers to develop secure digital payment capabilities.
