Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has deployed the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), becoming the first bank globally to deploy and co-design the platform’s initial use cases and operational framework with Visa.
VTIP combines cybersecurity and payment intelligence. It helps financial institutions identify emerging risks earlier and prevent them from escalating into fraud.
Its implementation integrates VTIP into ADIB’s fraud prevention framework. The platform provides cybersecurity, fraud and risk teams with real-time visibility into emerging threats tailored to the financial sector.
The solution supports faster risk identification, investigation of suspicious activity and response to evolving cyber threats.
Visa developed VTIP using the same cybersecurity capabilities that protect its global network, which Visa said blocks approximately 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails each month across more than 200 countries.
Many fraudulent transactions originate from earlier cyber incidents involving compromised credentials, data breaches or system exploitation.
Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, said:

“Visa’s Threat Intelligence Platform brings added depth to how we support financial institutions in the UAE, and help them strengthen resilience, protect customers, and stay ahead of emerging risks.”
Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said:

“ADIB’s early adoption of the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform reflects our commitment to innovating and delivering a secure and trusted banking experience for our customers.”
The rollout aligns with ADIB’s strategy to invest in technologies that protect customer assets and support the UAE’s push for a secure digital economy.
