dLocal, a Uruguayan payments platform, has received an Enhanced Payment Service Provider (EPSP) licence from the Bank of Ghana for its local subsidiary, dLocal Ghana Limited.
The licence allows the payments platform to process transactions directly in the country.
It connects to mobile money networks and bank accounts without routing through local intermediaries.
dLocal previously handled Ghana-related payment flows through its global platform and regulated third-party partners.
Under the new licence, the company can directly manage local payment collections and merchant acquisition.
It can also handle mobile money acceptance, bank transfer collections and payouts through bank accounts and mobile money wallets.

“By operating under the guidance of the Bank of Ghana, we are building an infrastructure that gives people the confidence that their money is moving safely, whether they are a local business owner reaching new customers or a consumer paying for essential services,”
said Oluwademilade Egbeyemi, Regional Expansion Manager for West Africa at dLocal.
The licence arrives as Ghana’s mobile money market expands rapidly. dLocal joins Flutterwave, Paystack and Fincra among providers that already hold enhanced payment licences from the central bank.
dLocal entered the Ghanaian market in 2020. It operates across more than 40 emerging markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America, connecting global merchants to local payment methods through a single API.
The company said the licence reflects its broader effort to build out its customer base across the African continent.
