Adyen has officially enabled Tap to Pay on iPhone for customers in the UAE, which allows businesses to use an iPhone and supporting iOS app to accept contactless payments without the need to purchase or manage additional hardware.
Among the first to implement Tap to Pay on iPhone in stores is the Italian professional cosmetics brand KIKO.
Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and a supporting iOS app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed. At checkout, merchants will simply prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology.
Tap to Pay on iPhone means merchants no longer have to rely on additional hardware devices or POS terminals, since they’re not always portable, and can instead achieve greater efficiency and offer their customers a more satisfying shopping experience.
Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.
“We are happy to announce the arrival of Tap to Pay on iPhone for our UAE customers. Tap to Pay on iPhone provides a fast and secure checkout experience for merchants and customers with the removal of the traditional barriers and challenges associated with payment hardware,”
says Daumantas Grigaravicius, Head of Middle East at Adyen.
“The launch is part of Adyen’s broader strategy that aims to extend access to contactless payments to more and more businesses globally following launches in the UK, France, and the Netherlands.”
