Equinix, a global digital infrastructure company, has announced plans to open a new high-performance data centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
The US$22 million LG3 facility represents the first phase of a planned US$100 million investment in Africa over the next two years.
Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026, the data centre will provide infrastructure to support local businesses and attract international companies to Lagos, a growing hub for global connectivity.
The LG3 site will also incorporate Equinix Fabric, allowing businesses to connect physical and virtual infrastructure to cloud providers, partners, and other Equinix locations worldwide.

“LG3 marks a significant milestone in Equinix’s long-term commitment to bridging Africa’s digital divide,”
said Wole Abu, Managing Director for West Africa at Equinix.
“As Lagos emerges at the crossroads of talent, innovation, and global connectivity, this facility is accelerating access to technologies like cloud, AI, and the next wave of startups.”
Nigeria is the second-largest economy in Sub-Saharan Africa, with Lagos recognised as the only African city in the Global Top 100 Startup Ecosystems.
Since entering Africa in 2022, Equinix has expanded into Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Last year, it opened its first data centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, strengthening its presence on the continent and supporting Africa’s connection to the global economy.
